Health and safety policy
How we keep crews, contributors and clients safe in the studio, on location and in post.
Exell Film Ltd, trading as EXF.STUDIO. Company number 12112829. Last updated 26 October 2026.
Our commitment
Nothing we make is worth anyone getting hurt. EXF plans every production so that crew, contributors, clients and the public go home safe. Directors Josh and Luke Exell hold overall responsibility for health and safety, and every production has a named producer accountable on the day.
Before every shoot
- A written risk assessment covering locations, equipment, travel, weather, working hours and any specialist activity.
- Specialist sign-off where needed: stunts, drones (licensed operators only), water, heights, vehicles, animals, pyrotechnics or working with children.
- Location recces, permits and checks of venue safety rules.
- A call sheet with emergency contacts, nearest A&E and the on-set first aider.
On set
- A safety briefing at the start of every shoot day and when conditions change.
- Dynamic risk assessment by the producer throughout the day. Anyone can stop the work if they feel unsafe, without blame.
- Sensible hours, proper breaks and turnaround, and attention to fatigue on long or overnight shoots.
- All equipment is PAT tested, checked before use, and rigged only by competent crew.
Studio and post
Our studio and edit suites follow standard workplace safety: fire safety and evacuation routes, first aid provision, display screen equipment assessments and regular breaks.
Incidents
All accidents and near misses are recorded, investigated and reported where required under RIDDOR. We use what we learn to improve how we work.
